Rodent Specialists, Not General Pest Control

Chesapeake Rodent Control handles mice and rats only: house mice, Norway rats and roof rats. Every inspection is built around rodent evidence such as runs, droppings, burrows and gnaw-points.

That focus changes where we look. University of California IPM guidance describes roof rats as agile climbers that usually nest above ground in attics, walls and false ceilings, while Norway rats dig burrows along foundations and under woodpiles and live mostly at ground level. Identifying which one you have decides whether the work starts in the attic, the crawl space or the yard.

Our rodent control services cover mouse control, rat control, crawl space work, attic removal, exclusion and cleanup. If you are weighing a rodent company against a general pest contract, our page on rodent control vs pest control sets out the difference.

Removal Plus Exclusion

Removal on its own leaves the gaps open, so we pair every removal with exclusion. Trapping and baiting deal with the rodents already inside; sealing deals with the next ones looking for a way in.

Our exclusion work uses hardened materials sized to each gap, not foam or steel wool alone. It includes door sweeps, vent and weep-hole screening that keeps airflow and drainage working, and exclusion carpentry or foundation repair where the structure needs it.

The order of the work, from the first inspection to the follow-up visit, is set out step by step on how our rodent control process works.

Chesapeake-Only Service Area

We work in Chesapeake only and do not take jobs in other cities. That keeps our technicians on one city’s housing, roads and neighborhoods every day.

Chesapeake has its own building pattern. U.S. Census Bureau estimates count 96,816 housing units in the city, and 67.4% are single-family detached houses. On those homes we check garage-to-house gaps, brick-veneer weep holes, soffits and utility penetrations. South Norfolk is different: in the ZIP code area that covers much of it, 59.3% of housing units were built before 1980, so older foundation framing and crawl space vents get more of the inspection there.

You can read more about the company itself on our about page.

Clear Pricing Before Work Starts

You know the price before you agree to a visit. A technician confirms the exact cost for your property during the callback, before anything is booked.

Our per-visit prices are published:

  • Mouse inspection & treatment: $99–$149
  • Rat treatment: $150–$220
  • Exclusion & proofing: $180–$250
  • Follow-up visit: $99–$120

Cleanup, crawl space work and attic removal do not have a published price, because the scope depends on what the inspection finds. Those are priced after inspection, and we tell you the figure before the work goes ahead.

Humane Removal Methods

Chesapeake Rodent Control uses humane trapping and removal of the active population. For mice, that means humane trap and bait placement inside the home. For rats, it means burrow and nesting-site treatment and exterior bait station placement.

We use bait where the job calls for it, in exterior bait stations for rats and in set placements for mice. We remove and dispose of every catch, so you are not left handling dead rodents.

UC IPM notes that wariness of new traps and baits is more pronounced in roof rats than in Norway rats, so the follow-up visit rechecks stations and adjusts the treatment instead of assuming the first setup worked.

What Homeowners Can Expect

Here is what working with Chesapeake Rodent Control looks like from the first call to the last visit:

  1. A free callback with no obligation to book
  2. The price confirmed before anything is booked
  3. A full interior and exterior inspection, crawl space included
  4. Removal of the active rodents, matched to the species
  5. Exterior sealing with materials sized to each gap
  6. A follow-up visit to recheck traps and bait stations and adjust if activity remains
  7. A walk-through of what was found, removed and sealed

We are also straight about limits. Not every noise in the wall is a rodent, not every burrow in the yard is active, and not every problem needs the largest job. If the inspection shows a small problem, the plan stays small.
