Chesapeake Rodent Control Pricing

Chesapeake Rodent Control publishes its prices per visit, and every job starts with a full interior and exterior inspection. Here is what each visit costs and what it covers:

Service Price per visit What the visit covers
Mouse inspection & treatment $99–$149 Full inspection, humane trap and bait placement
Rat treatment $150–$220 Burrow and nesting-site treatment, exterior bait stations, trapping, removal of catches
Exclusion & proofing $180–$250 Sealing gaps and vents with hardened materials, door sweeps, vent and weep-hole screening
Follow-up visit $99–$120 Recheck of traps and bait stations, treatment adjusted, bait stations topped up
Rodent cleanup Priced after inspection Removal of droppings and nesting material
Crawl space rodent control Priced after inspection Depends on access and what the inspection finds
Attic rodent removal Priced after inspection Depends on access and what the inspection finds

A job that needs treatment, sealing and a follow-up is billed as separate visits, and you hear the exact figure during the callback, before anything is booked.

What Affects the Cost?

The cost of rodent control depends on what the inspection finds: which rodent it is, how many ways in it has, where it is living and how many visits it takes to clear.

Number and size of openings

UC IPM says “all holes larger than 1/4 inch should be sealed to exclude both rats and mice”, and a rat can squeeze beneath a door with a 1/2-inch gap. Every opening the inspection records is material and time. On a newer Chesapeake house we check garage door gaps, brick-veneer weep holes, soffits, roofline returns and HVAC and utility penetrations.

Where the activity is

A garage is quick to reach. An attic or crawl space takes longer to work in safely, which is why those services are priced after inspection.

How many visits it takes

Rats are cautious around new objects, so some jobs need a follow-up visit.

The house itself

Chesapeake’s housing is mostly newer: U.S. Census ACS 2020-2024 estimates show 68.3% of the city’s homes were built in 1980 or later. In the ZIP code area that covers much of South Norfolk (23324), 32.7% were built before 1960. Age does not decide whether a house has rodents, but it changes what the inspection finds and so what the sealing list looks like.

Mouse Control Cost

Mouse control from Chesapeake Rodent Control costs $99 to $149 per visit, covering a full interior and exterior inspection plus humane trap and bait placement where the droppings and runs show activity.

Treatment deals with the mice already inside. It does not close the gaps they used, and those gaps are small: UC IPM says house mice can squeeze under gaps 1/4 inch tall and through openings 3/8 inch wide. Sealing is a separate exclusion visit at $180 to $250.

If activity continues, a follow-up visit costs $99 to $120. Our mouse control service explains the full process.

Rat Control Cost

Rat treatment in Chesapeake costs $150 to $220 per visit. It costs more than a mouse visit because the work covers more ground: burrow and nesting-site treatment, exterior bait stations, trapping and removal of catches. Norway rats burrow along foundations and under woodpiles, while roof rats nest above ground in attics and walls, so the inspection decides where the work happens.

Rats are also slower to take bait. UC IPM says they “often avoid traps and baits for the first several days (and maybe weeks)”, a caution “more pronounced in roof rats than in Norway rats.” That is why a correct first visit can still lead to a follow-up at $99 to $120. Rodent Exclusion Cost

Rodent exclusion costs $180 to $250 per visit. The price reflects how we seal: hardened materials sized to each gap, not foam or steel wool alone, plus door sweeps and vent and weep-hole screening that keeps airflow and drainage working.

Exclusion is the part of the job that keeps new rodents out once the current ones are gone. Virginia’s Maintenance Code (13VAC5-63-520, Section 302.5) says that “after extermination, proper precautions shall be taken to prevent reinfestation.”

Where the inspection finds openings in damaged framing or foundation that need exclusion carpentry or foundation repair, the technician confirms that price with you before the work starts. Our rodent proofing page shows what gets sealed and how.

Crawl Space Rodent Control Cost

Crawl space rodent control is priced after inspection, because crawl spaces differ so much in size, access and condition. We check the crawl space on every job. Norway rats, which UC IPM says burrow “along building foundations” and usually stay in “basement and ground floor areas”, are the usual reason for crawl space work.

The price covers what the inspection shows the space needs: trapping and bait, sealing foundation gaps, vent screening that keeps airflow, and removal of catches. Cleanup is priced separately. We do not do crawl space encapsulation, vapor barrier installation, waterproofing or insulation replacement, so our quote will not include them. See crawl space rodent control for how the work is done.

Attic Rodent Removal Cost

Attic rodent removal is priced after inspection, because the cost depends on how rodents are reaching the roofline and how easy the attic is to work in. Roof rats favor “attic spaces, walls, false ceilings” and are “very agile climbers”, according to UC IPM, so the inspection covers soffits, roofline returns, roof vents and nearby trees.

The work involves trapping in the attic, sealing the roofline openings and a recheck on a follow-up visit. It does not include insulation replacement or electrical repair, which we do not offer.

One fix costs you nothing. UC IPM says “overhanging tree limbs within 6 feet of roofs should be removed to prevent both rats and tree squirrels from accessing the roof top and entering attics and soffit vents.” Our attic rodent removal page covers the rest.

Cleanup Costs

Rodent cleanup is priced after inspection, because the cost depends on how much area has droppings, urine or nesting material and how hard it is to reach. The method sets the time involved. The CDC’s process is to ventilate for 30 minutes, spray with a bleach solution or EPA-registered disinfectant until very wet, let it soak 5 minutes, and never vacuum or sweep, because people get hantavirus from contact with rodent urine, droppings and saliva. Our rodent cleanup service explains what is included.

How to Get an Accurate Quote

An accurate quote is one based on your actual problem, compared like for like against other quotes. Virginia Tech Cooperative Extension’s advice on hiring a pest control company is a good checklist:

  • “Focus on value, not price.” It adds: “Do not always settle on the lowest bid; look for quality.”
  • Get “two or three estimates from prospective companies.”
  • Ask the company to outline “Which pests are to be controlled” and “Which pesticide formulations will be used in or around your home and why”.

Add two questions of your own: is the price per visit or per job, and does it include inspection, follow-up, sealing and cleanup? You can tighten the estimate on the callback by telling us where you hear or see activity and how big the droppings are.

The technician confirms the exact cost before anything is scheduled. Call before 4 p.m. and you’re usually on the schedule the same day. Call (757) 551-3952 or request a callback to get your price.

FAQ

Rodent Control Cost FAQs

How much does an exterminator cost for mice in Chesapeake?

Chesapeake Rodent Control charges $99 to $149 per visit for mouse inspection and treatment, including humane trap and bait placement. Sealing the gaps mice use is a separate exclusion visit at $180 to $250, and a follow-up visit, if activity continues, costs $99 to $120. The exact price is confirmed before anything is booked.

How much does rat removal cost in Chesapeake?

Rat treatment from Chesapeake Rodent Control costs $150 to $220 per visit, covering burrow and nesting-site treatment, exterior bait stations, trapping and removal of catches. Because rats often avoid new traps and bait at first, a rat job can need a follow-up visit at $99 to $120. Sealing entry points is a separate exclusion visit at $180 to $250.

Is the cheapest rodent control quote the best one?

Not necessarily. Virginia Tech Cooperative Extension advises homeowners to focus on value and not always settle on the lowest bid. A low quote may leave out the inspection, follow-up visits or sealing of entry points, so ask exactly what each quote includes and whether the price is per visit or for the whole job.

Is the callback free?

Yes. Callbacks from Chesapeake Rodent Control are free, with no obligation to book. A technician asks what you have seen or heard and confirms the exact cost before anything is scheduled. Calls are taken 7am to 8pm, Monday to Sunday, on (757) 551-3952, or request a callback through the form on this page.
