Mouse Control
Mouse control is the right service when you are finding small, pointed droppings in kitchen drawers, behind the stove or along the garage wall. House mice need very little room: UC IPM advises sealing every gap or opening larger than 1/4 inch to keep them out.
A mouse visit covers a full interior and exterior inspection, humane trap and bait placement along the routes the mice use, and sealing of the active entry points we find. We take every catch away with us. Mouse inspection and treatment costs $99 to $149 per visit.
Our mouse control service in Chesapeake explains the signs, the removal steps and how we stop mice coming back through the garage, utility lines and roofline.
Rat Control
Rat control starts with one question: which rat is it? Oregon State University Extension advises identifying the species first, because “the control methods are different for the two species.” Norway rats burrow and stay low; roof rats climb and nest high.
For rats, we treat burrows and nesting sites, place exterior bait stations and take away every catch. A roof rat job and a Norway rat job put stations in different parts of the same property, because each species travels its own routes. Rat treatment costs $150 to $220 per visit.
If you have seen burrows by the foundation, heard movement under the floor or overhead, or found droppings 1/2 inch or longer, start with our rat control service.
Crawl Space Rodent Control
Crawl space rodent control is for rats and mice using the space under your floor. It is also the part of the house homeowners see least, which is why we check it on every visit even when the complaint is somewhere else.
Down there, the work centers on vents, the access hatch, pipe and wire entries and any digging along the footings. On older streets such as South Norfolk, older vents and foundation framing add to the list of things we check.
Crawl space work is priced after inspection, since the size of the space and the number of openings vary so much from house to house. Read more about rodent control under the house.
Attic Rodent Removal
Attic rodent removal is the service for scratching, scurrying or droppings overhead. Rodents that live up there usually arrived from outside, by climbing a wall, a downspout or a branch to a gap at the roofline.
The job has three parts: find the openings along the soffits, vents and roof penetrations, clear out the rodents using the attic, and close the gaps so the next ones cannot follow. Attic removal is priced after inspection, because roof shape and the number of openings differ on every house. See how we handle rodents in the attic.
Rodent Exclusion & Proofing
Rodent exclusion is the service that keeps the next group of rodents out after removal. University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension reports that research shows rodents “will reinvade structures through unsecured openings following rodent control programs.”
We seal the exterior with hardened materials cut to fit each opening, fit door sweeps, and screen vents and weep holes so air still moves and water still drains. Where the building itself is damaged, the job includes exclusion carpentry or foundation repair.
Exclusion and proofing costs $180 to $250 per visit. Our rodent proofing service lists the materials we use and where we use them.
Rodent Cleanup & Sanitization
Rodent cleanup is the service for the mess left after the rodents are gone. Droppings, urine stains and old nests stay in place after the last rodent is removed, and they need handling with care.
The CDC advises airing a space out for at least 30 minutes before cleaning it, and warns against sweeping or vacuuming droppings or nesting material, which puts particles into the air. That is why cleanup is its own service rather than an afterthought.
Cleanup has no published price; we quote it once we know how much material there is and where it sits. Learn what our rodent cleanup and sanitization service includes.
Commercial Rodent Control
Chesapeake Rodent Control takes commercial jobs as well as homes. Shops, offices, restaurants and rental properties get the same inspection, removal and sealing approach, planned around how the building is used.
Virginia’s food regulations ask food businesses to keep pests to a minimum, in part by removing the places pests can shelter. Finding where rodents hide and get in is the core of what we do on every job.
As with homes, a technician confirms the cost during the callback, before anything is booked. Find out more about rodent control for Chesapeake businesses.
How Our Chesapeake Rodent Control Works
Every Chesapeake Rodent Control job runs in the same order, whichever service it starts with: inspect, remove, exclude, then clean up and follow up where needed. You know the price before the first visit is booked.
Inspect
We go through the inside and outside of the property looking for runs, droppings, burrows, gaps, vents and gnaw-points. What we find sets the species, the active areas and the services the job needs.
Remove
Mice are handled with humane traps and bait indoors; rats with burrow and nesting-site treatment and exterior bait stations. We take the catches away.
Exclude
With the active rodents under control, we close the entry points so new ones cannot replace them.
Clean Up & Follow Up
If droppings or nesting material remain, cleanup is priced after inspection. The follow-up visit rechecks traps and stations and changes the treatment if rodents are still active.
When the work is finished, the technician shows you what was found, removed and sealed. The full step-by-step is on how our rodent control process works. To get started, request a free callback and tell us what you are seeing.
